Revenge is Sweet

If someone told you the Tottenham - City game finished 4-1, you wouldn't be surprised. City have regularly pasted us in the last few seasons and there was a dreaded sense of woe when Walker's misplaced pass led to City's lead. But this is Pochettino's Tottenham. After beating Chelsea and Arsenal last season it's safe to say we can turn up for big games now. And we certainly turned up today.

Man of the Match.
The tempo of our pressing game was absolutely fantastic today and caught City out on several occasions. Every single player starting the game today was willing to put a foot in and win the ball back as quickly as possible. This was epitomised by the rebirth of Erik Lamela; a star performance in our last Premier League game led to him being rested midweek in preparation for today. And boy did he deliver. He was stronger than ever, holding off defenders easily and beating players at will. His delivery was impeccable, providing the assist for Alderweireld's header and capping it all off with a tremendously composed finish. This was the player we signed two years ago. Here's to more Man of the Match performances.

Eric Dier. I defy anyone to name me an attribute he does not possess. That shot just summed up his ability to adapt to situations, thumping one in like a seasoned midfielder to equalise. So he has a long shot on him. He's a competent passer. He can tackle expertly and he reads the game like he has been playing the role six years, not six games. I'm actually scared by how high his potential is.

Finally!
I couldn't be happier Kane scored. An almost open goal (a very tidy finish mind you) was just what the lad needed to boost his confidence and silence a few critics. The thing is, we all know he has been playing just as well as last season despite the lack of goals. I've said it before but his work rate epitomises Pochettino's philosophy, he holds the ball up and always links the play excellently. This goal will do a world of good for his confidence in front of goal and as I've said will stop moronic neutrals calling him a "one-season wonder". He's a damn good forward.

Everyone else was brilliant today too. Ben Davies looks like the full back we signed, the centre backs were excellent again and Lloris kept us in the game at 0-1 and Eriksen showed glimpses of the player he'll be when he's fully fit. But I'd like to compliment Clinton N'Jie. His turn and cross for Lamela's goal showed great technique and awareness, showing fans there is more than just raw pace in his locker.

What a signing this boy is.
This'll all look ridiculous if we lose our next couple of games but I can only see the positives of us tearing apart the title favourites despite Hart, Kompany and Silva not being in the team. We could have easily rolled over today but we showed the character (sorry Brendan) and desire to fight back and embarrass the best team in the league. Revenge is sweet.
