Home Success

"But no one ever sees the Pochettino philosophy!"

That was it. With the exception of Chadli who was below par and eventually substituted, everyone played a 7 out of 10 (or higher). Lloris was his usual incredible self, both the fullbacks and the centre halves looked solid, Dier is the best thing since sliced bread, Lamela worked hard and showed good touches and new boys Alli and Son stood out. Last but not least, even though Kane hasn't got his goal yet he's still holding up the ball brilliantly and linking the play well. It was just a great team performance. We worked hard for the win and got what we deserved. That's what Pochettino has been trying to implement.

Pochettino's philosophy can be a joy to watch.

Eriksen made an immediate difference when he came on. Some players just make teams tick and he is one of our most influential players without a question. While the man he replaced dawdled in possession all too frequently, Eriksen played an incisive through ball with one of his first touches to put Son away. A hard, low shot through the keeper's legs gave us the lead. Well deserved.

I'll continue to mention it in every blog post until it's worldwide knowledge but Eric Dier is an exceptional footballer. He isn't blessed with incredible pace but not many defensive midfielders are. What he has is an incredible understanding and appreciation of the game. He knows when to press, when to cover, when to slide in (probably the best tackler I've seen at the Lane since Ledley King). The latter comparison should tell you all you need to know. Eric Dier is a talent and will only get better. Hell, he even hit a few 40 yard passes right on the money. Imagine when he has played the role for a couple of years!

Dier has gone from strength to strength ever since his debut goal.

Son was the man of the moment again after his midweek double. He looks instantly adapted to the pace of the Premier League, probably since the Bundesliga is fairly similar in style. From what I've seen he has the composure in front of goal to succeed combined with real pace and flair. It's also nice to see a signing settle in quickly for once.

My man of the match, however, was Erik Lamela. Maybe it's because I was beginning to write off the young Argentinian but I thought he was absolutely outstanding today. Stronger in possession, working hard off the ball and able to beat a man. He also won the ball back for our goal which shouldn't go unmentioned. Hopefully this is a new beginning for Erik and Tottenham. Roll on Wednesday night. COYS!

Three in two for the South Korean and the lads love him!
