...that's how you sum up this Tottenham side. Professional. We're strong favourites at home to the worst side in the league who have just sacked their manager (lol). What would we usually go and do? Mess this up horrifically. For years we've been unable to see off this type of game and in truth we didn't play anywhere near how we're capable of playing. Perhaps when Jordan Ayew's deflected effort found the back of the net the Tottenham of yesteryear would have crumbled. But we were solid, took our chances and above all professional.
Last week's drubbing of Bournemouth with more than a little help from Artur Boruc displayed our newfound potency in front of goal. But tonight was equally as impressive in my eyes because we got the job done without too much drama. The goals were all impressive in terms of the composure it took to finish them. I was particularly impressed with how cool Alli took his chance but Kane's ability to find the top corner first time - capping a wonderful counterattacking move - had to be the pick of the bunch.

Erik Lamela continued to impress those patient enough to wait on his success. And you'd need the patience of a bloody Saint to give this guy the two years it has taken him to find his feet. So far, though, it seems well worth it. What I love about Erik these days is that he knows he has the beating of his man (albeit the mighty Kieran Richardson) and uses it to his full advantage. While Andros Townsend was sometimes preferred last season due to his superior pace, it is Erik Lamela's quickness of thought that is testament to his true ability. Instead of taking a touch and messing around in the area late on, he played a first time pass with his weaker foot to the unmarked Kane who finished with aplomb. No, Lamela has not been a £30m signing so far. But with a few very impressive performances this campaign he's well on the way to becoming an important player for us.
While this is based somewhat on conjecture, I don't think Kane would have finished that chance a few weeks ago. However, fresh off of his hattrick against Bournemouth last weekend, the young striker buried his only real chance by finding the top corner with a cool finish. That's five in the league already for the man many were beginning to write off. One season wonder my arse. He had one goal this time last season!
We'll learn far more about our side from the next two London derbies. Arsenal away would be a good point if we can secure it and back things up with a home win against Wet Spam. That'll do! COYS!
Lamela needs to stop running into dead ends with the ball or losing it cheaply. Apart from that, he's doing a lot of good things.
